Eco friendly Kitchens

It is important to preserve our natural resources. There are many new environmentally-friendly building products that are being developed.

For some time now, people are definitely becoming more interested in green alternatives to use in their homes. There are so many options available now that weren’t available a few years ago.

Throughout the years I have my introduced my clients to many eco-conscious makeover options. In lieu of traditional granite for countertops, homeowners are choosing PAPERSTONE—said to be the greenest architectural surface on the market today. PaperStone’s Original series is made from 100-percent post-consumer recycled cardboard; its Certified series originates from 100-percent post-consumer standard office paper. Both types come in a variety of colors, including red, green, blue, brown and gray. It’s perfect for use in kitchens because it’s nonporous.

Another alternative is RECYCLED GLASS KITCHEN COUNTERTOPS. These countertops have colorful recycled glass mixed into a cement, concrete, or resin base. Kitchen countertops can be integrally colored or stained for more variation and color coordination with cabinetry or painted surfaces. Note: As with all counter materials, labor and installation can cost extra and vary by region.
What makes it green are the diverts used glass from

the waste stream. The cement in some counters is mixed with fly ash, a waste product of coal-burning that would otherwise end up in landfills; this also reduces greenhouse gas-producing cement manufacturing. These countertops look beautiful! Check out these samples below and get inspired! The colors are endless!
